Instead of shedding naturally, skin cells respond to this localized stress by adhering together and building up dense layers of keratin.
Why Pinch Calluses Feel Painful and Sharp
Because the pressure is concentrated along a tight fold, the resulting buildup often forms a firm, blade-like ridge rather than a flat patch of hard skin.
