Choosing work boots for electricians
The footwear required depends on the electrical task and your workplace risk assessment. These antistatic boots must not be treated as electrically insulating. A composite toe does not establish electrical protection; check your employer’s requirements against the exact boot specification.
Laces let electricians adjust the fit over the instep and check heel hold before ladder work, kneeling and moving between work areas. Once the laces are set, the inside zip makes Helium boots easier to put on and take off.
Try your work boots with the socks you wear on electrical jobs. Compare toe room and heel hold while standing and bending. Selected Helium models offer 2E and 4E; 4E adds forefoot width, rather than boot length. Check the exact model and size.
Helium includes an Ultra Soft orthotic insole. If you use a prescribed orthotic for your electrical workday, check the removable footbed, available depth and heel hold with your own insert. Follow your clinician’s fitting instructions; do not automatically stack inserts.
The zip is on the inside of the boot, facing the other foot. The outside panel does not have a zip. Set the laces for fit and use the inside zip for access.
Use the Ergonx stockist finder and ask the store about the work boot models, sizes and widths you want to try. Bring your work socks and orthotics if you use them. Check the current Australian delivery and exchange policies before ordering online.
